The twins in this myth were actually named Eurydice and Orpheus and they were mortal and not angels. They were also not two guardian angels but just two sisters. It is said that Orion was the god of the sun, which explains why he is pictured with a bow that the brother was suppose to kill him with.

However, Apollo had decreed that Orpheus was not to die for any reason, so if he played his lyre, the god of music would strike him down. The myth goes on to say that Eurydice died while they were out walking because she stepped on a poisonous snake. The two siblings did not see each other again after this tragedy.
